Business On The Backroads

Business on the Backroads is a unique feature you’ll find only at HegedusWorld. We believe strongly in the power of small business in America. We also believe that small business men and women are often left out of the debate over the future of the U.S. economy. We want to create a place where small business owners are not only celebrated, but have the opportunity to voice their opinions about what needs to be done to move our country forward. We want this to be your forum.

Our first step is ‘Business on the Backroads’. It is a collection of feature stories about small businesses across the United States. These are your neighbors and friends. These are the people who make America what it is and what it can become. The features will rotate so there will always be fresh faces and stories. We will be adding more features to our ‘Business on the Backroads’ section in the weeks to come, but for now sit back and enjoy meeting unique people in special places. This is the true face of American business.

Business on the Backroads is taking its next step to having a positive impact on the lives of small business men and women in America. For more answers to your business questions use this link directly to the Small Business Administration http://www.sba.gov/

Maine Root

For four years now, Maine Root’s organically sweetened sodas have been thrilling fans from New England to Texas. This all started when younger brother Matt , a boat builder and former fishing guide, was helping a friend, Bobby Morgan, build the oven at Flatbread Pizza Company in Portland, Maine. Finding the restaurant’s current root beer less than palate pleasing, he brewed his own. Praises and orders flowed and soon brother Mark quit his software sales job to expand their distribution. Today, Maine Root is flying off the shelves of Wild Oats, Roundy’s, Lois’s Natural Marketplace, Whole Foods, Central Market, Hannaford Brothers’ and other fine grocery stores nationwide.

It may happen when the vehicle “walks” an upsweep of rock to Chicken Point. It may happen during the steep but smooth ride down the “Road of No Return”. GOKEY BOOTS

The Gokey construction process is an incredible example of the bootmaker’s art – a rare thing in today’s mass-produced world. Heavy, remarkably durable bullhide is molded over a hardwood last. Next, a welt is stitched to this so cunningly that no awl hole ever completely penetrates the shoe leather to admit water. An arch support is inserted, the outer sole hand-sewn into place, and the top constructed. Each stitch of waxed thread is knotted, locking it firmly in place. Keep in mind, this is done for every single individual shoe that leaves the Gokey factory.
